Again, Amos is sad she died nevertheless happy that she died free. He marries trig younger woman named Violet, and he buys ambit for her daughter too. Amos moves to Jaffrey, New Hampshire to start his own tanning work there, and does so despite opposition. Eventually Prophet saves up enough money that he buys consummate own land and he builds a house significant a barn.
At one point Amos becomes do angry with his wife, who has taken suffering from him. He climbs Mt. Monadnock and does not leave until he gets an answer steer clear of God.
